and?

Listen, I'm asking you a ton of question to make sure you really are qualified to be installing this circuit. No offense, but this isn't a do-it-yourself help center. If you can explain how to correctly wire the GFCI breaker to me I'll explain how to hook up the disconnect.

Re: Help on AC Dissconnect

OK, you sound lagit.

you said the disconnect is marked line on 2 lugs right?
the other 2 should be marked load.

power in is line, power out to tub is load.

but you already got that far right?

Re: Help on AC Dissconnect

Correct I think I just might have gotten the wrong disconnect because there are no lugs for the neutrals, and I am not sure if I can just simply tie them together

Re: Help on AC Dissconnect

both grounds go to ground bar which should be bonded to disconnect if it's metal.

Nuetrals could either go to an isolated nuetral bar or spliced together. I would use a split bolt.

Good luck with the apprentice program, and make sure you TEST the GFCI breaker!!!

Re: Help on AC Dissconnect

Often we see helpers trying to do side jobs to make up for the poor starting pay.We have a few at our company.I warn them that what they are doing is illegal and if they kill someone they could face manslaughter and do jail time.It is also risky for the homeowner because if the moonlighter gets hurt he could sue them.Working without insurance and workers compinsation is not good.
Now if this is your own hot tub then fine but i wish you either get inspected by ahj or at least a journeyman.Your playing with water, people, and electric and they dont mix well. Please take time to read all of 680

Re: Help on AC Dissconnect

it is my own TUB! My journyman wants me to do it myself because he said I am very capable of it; however, there are some things I am not sure on and he won't help me out until I finish it. Trust me I would not do this to someone elses home because I am not a contractor; moreover, it is illegal. All I wanted was just some help, but instead I got people getting mad at me. Stupid men don't ask questions!

Re: Help on AC Dissconnect

Nobody is mad at you. :)
We all pick every detail to pieces and often we learn from them.I think its great that your doing this yourself and as long as he visits your house and looks it over then i am fine with it.Often posters leave details out so then we must start questioning them. There are no stupid questions. Please keep us informed on how it turns out.

Check your spec. sheet for your tub. If your going to use 6-3 with ground, the grounding wire will only be #10 wire. Your will probably need a larger grounding wire. Just check it out and we'll go from there.

Bless your heart maybe I should have picked my words more carefully but my meaning to ?Getting into trouble it seems? was in reference to the following:

First if the tub is going outside it will need to be installed under the following articles:

680.40 General. Electrical installations at spas and hot tubs shall comply with the provisions of Part I and Part IV of this article.

680.42 Outdoor Installations. A spa or hot tub installed outdoors shall comply with the provisions of Parts I and II of this article, except as permitted in 680.42(A) and 680.42(B), that would otherwise apply to pools installed outdoors.

Now if this tub is going on a concrete pad as outlined in 680.26 Equipotential Bonding might come into play.
