I would love to do less resi.

I have been PMing some resi recently. Kind of refreshing actually, got me back into parts of the NEC I have not looked at in a long time. 220.84, 210.8, 210.12, 210.52 and 680.26. How quickly I forget.

I am just happy doing what I do. (eight words).

Counting the "(eight words)" then I am up to ten words. Counting the last sentence I am now up to twenty one words. Damn- does it ever end..... Yes, it does counting everything I am up to oh-fifty words.

Well no, it was a MV breaker, none of them have OCPD's, they use external protective relays.

Thanks Zog. I was making a joke...haha. That must have been creepy as heck though......They have one in a museum here along with a few other means of execution. Very eerie to look at.

power plant

I have not worked on an actual power plant (with tools) but worked for a contractor doing an internship on the management side.

A typical modern gas-turbine plant has lots of:

1)Duct bank and manholes with 480 and 5kV cables, as well as ductbank for instrumentation. DB is typically 4" or larger PVC conduit encased in concrete.

2) Grounding grid (4/0 bare copper cadwelded together and jumpers ran to all equipment and building steel)

3) Cable tray for instrumentation cables, and the installation of said cables and instrumentation

4) MV and HV work (transmission lines, transformers, gear). This is almost always done by a speciality contractor and riggers and not "regular" electricians.

I've done a lot of plant work in my time. At my age, I'd love
to do plant design full time. That would be a real challange for me.
If you ever get to work in a large plant, power, oil, paper, etc.
Take the time to look at the design and coordnation,it's amazing.
