How come the neutral is spliced in the right hand panel? Is that SOP?

Three pages till this came up? You guys are going soft.

This was just a panel change under normal installation the wire would reach.

The neutral was plenty long enough until I noticed that about half of the strands were cut of in original installation.

Tell you the truth I don't even know if that is an acceptable installation for a groove connector.

That must be a pretty big doorbell to require it's own circuit. Why do so many do that?!
Almost forgot it.

Could have just spliced with an existing circuit or as many do stuck it on a breaker with another wire.

Pretty good looking work for the most part Scott. Takes some big cahones (sp) to post pics of your work around this crowd. I did notice the lack of a plastic bushing on the feeder in the main panel though. Wire sizes # 4 and larger I believe is how it reads......

Not the best looking electrical work ever by any means but not bad for starting with a rats nest.

I'll put my work up for critique any time. I am not shy about commenting on others so why not turn the tables.

300.4 G Applies to raceways containng #4 or larger conductors.

My guess is that those two bullet holes probably violate the minimum conductor bending radius.

Man you guys would make lousy inspectors. The covers are missing...duh.

they are actually glass covers...to show off the craftsmanship:D

actually, that's what a panel done by the guy paying the bills looks like;)

xtra service wire?

xtra service wire?

Looks like the service conductors have to go farther in the reworked picture. I guess your wire stretcher actually works?

Seriously though, how did you make it the farther distance? It doesn't look like you moved the panel up that far, so ???

The first panel had pretty big mouse ears...

no good in nz

no good in nz

wouldn't pass in nz, all eatrh wires would have to be sleeved. i would also throw a few cable ties around, but not bad for an upgrade, as we all know how much fun they are.

Good example of a nice clean upgrade, good workmanship without wasting time and keeping an eye on making some money.

Was it a major remodel or an addition that triggered the Arc-Fault breakers?

One question. The bottom right breaker in the sub panel, the red conductor appears to be one leg of a multi-wire circuit on a single pole Arc-Fault, or is it just an extension of a short conductor? The first thing I look for when I see a red conductor in a panel with romex is the phasing of the legs.

Looks good, but if you really want some professional critique, show how big you kahunas really are and post this to one of those home inspector forums. They'll straighten you out. :)

I can't believe you placed the breaker for the sub panel so far down the buss.

What a hack.
Are you picking on me again?

In the right-hand panel, is there a neutral jumper between the two bars on each side of the panel?
It's behind breakers 9-11 and 10-12. I enlarged it in IrfanView to see it.

No, they're there. It's just they were developed during the Reagan years...you know... SDI stealth stuff.
Ah, the Emperor's new panel covers. ;)
