Soo. I ordered the wrong 3phase generator. (Generac 20kw 3phase 120-208Y)
What I need is a 3phase 120-240 w/208 stinger.
Any ideas? Can I convert 120/208 to 120/240delta?

You can transform from 208 to 120/240 delta, but I'd rather install the correct unit and if can't return the other one sell it, if you can't take a markup for whatever reason sell as is no warranty. My guess is the 208/120 version would sell easier most the time.

use the unorder button ;)

Can't you just "cancel", meaning call them and replace the order with what you need.

Exsisting transferswitch? Or new? If new, you probably have another problem! (If its automatic) But then, maybe not, since Generac controls the transferswitch, unlike everybody else has the transferswitch control the generator.

If the small residential well pump is a single phase 240V load and the ag pump is 240V three phase, I would first check to see whether they will operate safely at 208V instead of 240V.
If not, then you can use three small boost transformers to produce 240Y/137.
What are the loads for which you need 120V? If not too large, power them with a single phase 208 or 240 to 120/240 transformer.

See post #6
Try and keep up!;)
Funny how the conversation started with "I ordered it....." then a bit later, "I already installed it......".

Ok,.... then RMA it, return it, swap it, or set it to the side & order the right item, deal with the mess-up later.
For a few lost $$ I usually opt for the ez/right way vs spending that same $$ "to make it work". It's a philosophy.

If it is, let's say, 1-3 pieces of equipment, could you just get 3 little acme boost xfrmrs and solve your problem? Be cheaper than the alternative.

Is it diesel?

I'd just stick in a full size 208 delta -> 240 center tap delta transformer. Might only need a 15kva? How much is that? <$1000 I would guess.

Does the 10hp motor have a VFD? 20kw generator seems kind of marginal for across the line starting a 10hp pump.

This may not be popular, but here goes...

you ordered the wrong generator and you want to “make it work”?
Ask yourself, if you paid for something to be done right and the vendor ordered the wrong item, would you want it right or would you want him to “make it work”?
The thread title says it all...
Make it right, sell the other generator to someone that needs it the way it is configured from the factory.

At least it’s a common voltage that can be sold to another unsuspecting customer. Most engineers will not allow Generac in their specs. Would be good for a small customer that doesn’t want to spend a lot of money.

If the generator has 12 leads and they are all accessible, it might be able to be rewired as a 240/120 4 wire high leg system.

Don't know if it would be that simple with Generac, they have that weird controller they are so proud of. Thats why we have a brand new one thats been sitting at the warehouse for years now.
