*** NOTE ***
The most appropriate Forum I could think of posting this in was the EE - based area.

On to the message!

Just how long have you been a Member of the MHE Forums?

If the name "Bennie Palmer" sounds familiar, you may be close to "Legacy"

If you replied directly with Bennie, you _ARE_ a Legacy!

If you remember the old Text-Only Bulletin Board - with all the threads shown, you define the term "Legacy"!

So, what is your story?

Scott

Ahh yes, the good ole days.

I do remember those discussions where quite interesting and thought provoking. Particularly the thread about what is truly an SDS and what isn't.

All of the above.

Hello Scott.

Roger

At first Bennie use to frustrate me and I thought he was a pain. Slowly I realized he was not only intelligent and brought a different angle to the forum, but he was very well rounded in his industry knowledge.
And yes, the SDS threads were always interesting.

Bennie Palmer is a legend. I learned a lot from him over the years. I think of him often. I remember hearing the news of his death. One thing Bennie wanted is me to quit smoking, I am still working on that.

When I started I was in college reading this forum. I remember Bennie, and I remember when he left. There always seemed to be a dispute, but he did know his stuff. Or so it seemed to me in college. That was 2001 I think. WOW! That forum or one of them told you what member number you were..... I think I was upper 390's... Any way after 8 years of visitin this site I have only accumulated a few hundred posts but I have read probably 80% of the forum in those 8 years. I think of some of you as superstars even though my friends don't know who Don,Charlie, iwire, or even Mike Holt for that matter.

I always wondered if Bennie would register under a different name. How is he does anyone talk to him.

Bennie passed away a few years ago. Charlie B posted his obit but it seems to be lost in one of the forum upgrades.

Wow!
So many replies in such a short amount of time!

The motive behind this thread was something my Wife said today, while I was browsing the new posts.
She reminded me of just how long I have been involved with the On-Line Forums, similar discussion techniques, and of the many People I had come to know.

For me, it dates back to 1996!

As others have stated, I learned a lot from Bennie over the many Years - along with several others (a few of whom replied to this thread).

I learned to discuss subjects in Non-Real time, via Text, and how to read a person's demeanor from various replies.

The SDS threads were some of the last ones we all discussed in great detail.

If not for the MHE Bulletin Board / Forum, my knowledge base would be lacking! It would be < 50% of the current value at this time!
Maybe, more like < 30%, as I was introduced to ECN through the MHE Forum.

As the new year has come, so does the time for me to look back to the past and project towards the future.

Doing so, brings out the most accurate statement I can ever make:

" The More I Learn, The Less I Know "

Never a more true statement could I make!

Happy New Year all!

Scott

I think he passed away from cancer or something like that.

There was a post from a family member about it.

Unless I'm thinking of someone else named benny.

Only 80%...

A voice might well be missed, if known!
