Yeah they discriminate against old people. New code, minimum height 36" for any receptacle with an inuse cover.

I've often thought that building codes should require that floors be installed two or three feet higher.

That would make it much easier for us old farts to pick up things we drop and not have to bend so far.

I like them too but retro situations aren't as clean as new with these.

They can be if you select the right box. I have installed them in brick, vinyl siding, and hardboard siding.

The Hardi one I like I've used it. The brick one I'd rather have a normal masonry box in there and the vinyl one I want in before siding I don't like that ones retro fit.

The older I get the more I hate top hinged recessed boxes mounted below 30" above grade.

That's why my generator inlet is @ 4 feet.

I tried to use 4 of them on a remodel, and the homeowner objected, like having a fit. He said it looked too bulky

I used them one time and I never used them again. We installed it in brick on a new home and during construction someone broke the nub off that is there to hold the cover on. The only option was to get the mason to chop out the box and we installed a new one. Fortunately the mason were still on the job.

I’ve used those, and like them. Not big and bulky like bubble covers, so customers don’t complain.
