Interesting Problem

I'm listening to Bill Wattenburg (pretty cool guy, engineer) on the AM dial and an electrical contractor calls and asks him what he thinks this problem might be.

A couple of time he's ran into customers copmplaining about buzzing in "a" or "the" walls. Doesn't find anything. Figures probably a doorbell transformer or something. Ends up cutting the service over night (I don't know). Buzzing's still there.

What do think Bill says it was? I'll give you a hint, he says it's common.

I Never heard the radio show OR the sound of termites...knock on wood. (no pun intended!)

Re: Interesting Problem

If the buzzing still occurs with all of the power off the most likely problem is stinging insects of the buzzing and stinging kind.

If you can locate where they are going in and out you could attach schnorchel to an insecticide can and spray their nest that way. In a lot of houses there is usually a hole in a window frame that will admit wasps and yellow jackets.

Be very careful with yellow jackets. They are just a little worse than getting your arm blown off by 7,200 volts.

Re: Interesting Problem

I've had two, "TWO". Count 'em, 2, full size dictionary size books on a wasp. For like five, coun...ok :D minutes. I don't know if this thing was under there doing bench presses or something but when I picked the books up, he got up, kind of 'shook it off' and flew away. That's a bug!
