Lack of experience???? Let's roll.

Let's here some personal experiences. Ever been involved with fire inspections? You are quoting me sh*t you have read in books, and this is turning somewhat personal. I better be quiet. All's I am looking for from you is personal knowledge/experience. You are throwing story book quotes at me. All I wanted to know is what you have personally seen and could argue first hand, you never once gave it to me.
So you are familiar with fire inspections? Oh please enlighten me so I can learn!

How about the heat generated from the wires that have had the insulation just fall off over time and now the heat ignites the insulation in the attic. Fact of the matter is would you have it in your house? Where your kids sleep at night a say I have no worries?

Maybe we can turn this into a properly OCPD circuit thread? I don't even have to use the term, K&T.

I have it in my house, the lighting outlets in my upstairs bedrooms are all K&T supplied.

Why would the wires over heat? The circuit has a 15 amp breaker and supplies just a few light outlets.

All those 'flying splices' are soldered.

Like I said before lack of experience in this method. When you have detioration of insulation and the heat now disappating on the the insulation in the attic it will cause fires. Lessoned learned.
In reality - the wiring - conductors themselves will dissapate heat BETTER than NM methods, it is splices that would be the danger.... Splices in NM methods would be concealed in a box away from insulation or other combustables - but in saving grace K&T splices were done in the past SO MUCH better than the wire nut ever could - so that risk is diminished to the point of nill.... There have been some bad splices I have seen, and most of them as mentioned were done in that "Era of the death of workmanship" I mentioned earlier. When the splicing and soldering skills died with the old men who knew them....

what about the heat generated off of BX cable where someone stuck a penny in the fuse socket instead of a 15 amp fuse? if the conductor is heating up enough to cause a fire its not the conductors fault its the person who overloaded the circuits fault. i never once seen a piece of wire loaded up to its capacity overheat and cause a fire. ive seen conductors overloaded beyond its capacity overload and fail but thats about it

Even if they were does that make them legal????????????????
if they were legal at the time of installation theres nothing wrong with it. as time passes the NEC changes. is your house unsafe because it doesnt have tamper resistant receptacles or arc fault breakers in it?

I feel like I am married again:D , no, never was, just kidding. I don't want to argue chevy. Can you just skip the book part and tell us besides the lack of any EGC, just why K&T is so dangerous?
