210.50 (C) Appliance Outlets. Appliance receptacle outlets installed in a dwelling unit for specific appliances, such as laundry equipment, shall be installed within 1.8 m (6 ft) of the intended location of the appliance.
210.52 Dwelling Unit Receptacle Outlets.
This section provides requirements for 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacle outlets. Receptacle outlets required by this section shall be in addition to any receptacle that is part of a luminaire (lighting fixture) or appliance, located within cabinets or cupboards, or located more than 1.7 m (5? ft) above the floor.

I don't think that either of these sections would apply to the height of a laundry receptacle.

The question was:

both statements are the requirements for the installation for the laundry receptacle. The receptacle is required to be with-in six feet and no higher than five and a half feet high.
I challenge you to show me more.

I shall meet your challenge. The code says within 6 feet of the appliance and makes no reference to the hight from the floor.The distance is the reference distance to the applianc. Hence the outlet could be next to the floor and still be within 6 ft. 210.52 does not apply either.IMHO
210.52 says the cannot be more than 5 1/2 feet above the floor. I am extracting this from the illustrated guide to the electric code by miller based on the 2002 code. page 131.

Well we do agree on the fact that the receptacle can be no futher away than six feet from the appliance as outlined by 210.50 (C) Appliance Outlets. Appliance receptacle outlets installed in a dwelling unit for specific appliances, such as laundry equipment, shall be installed within 1.8 m (6 ft) of the intended location of the appliance.
I will agree that the five and a half rule might not count for the laundry because of the header, 210.52 Dwelling Unit Receptacle Outlets. I believe that this requirement is for the receptacles required for wall space.

We usually put outlet @ 36" AFF.
The main reason is that it does not fall in the seams of the sheetrock (48"). If the painter falls behind, floated or not, we are trimming it out. (device only) This is the only reason we put it at this elevation.
Sometimes you have to think outside of the Bun.

210 52 5 1/2 ft pertains to required receptacle for wall spacing.210.50 C has no constraints 6 ft.,so if the washer had a 6 ft cord mounted at 3 ft AFF & 6 ft the receptacle could within 9 ft aff

O.K. Still believe 210.52 does apply to the laundry room receptacle height........
In summary of this article , one would think that if you place a receptacle over the 5 1/2 ft. mark you "WOULD NOT" be meeting the requirements of 210.52(F).
This is now I am looking at this and leave room to stand corrected if wrong.

Your assumption is, since the first paragraph of 210.52 spec's the 5.5', and 210.52(F) exists, then (F) must comply with the general requirements of 210.52.
So a laundry receptacle must be below 5.5'.
That doesn't have to be the receptacle for the washer.
210.52 states that receptacles required by it are in addition to receptacles located above 5.5' off the deck. So, as long as one exists, (F) is satisfied, and you can put the washer outlet at 8'.

The first paragraph of 210.52 is "lord" over all it's subcategories.
Wall Spacing comes after, in (A). So all receptacles specified in (A) - (H) have to fall in line.
