Ahhh, it's a design thing. Sorry for the long and wrong post. The fact that your thread is in NEC threw me.

sorry about that. It just seems that when i post a question i get better and quicker responses when i put it in the NEC area. I know this probably shouldve been in the 'lighting forum' but it seems more people come to the NEC forum.

Im have trouble translating the 'foot candle ' chart here. any explanation would be helpful on the link i got.

Not a problem. But take a close look. The 'lighting forum' is really the 'lightning forum'.

It is lightning, Chris.

It just strikes 120 times a second....:D
Are you sure? Can I call channel 7 and tell them I have been struck by lightning dozens of times and have lived to tell about it?

Interesting links although I see some big differences of opinion in the two sights , under woodworking one says 75-100 ft candle where the other says 20-50 ft candles. I guess one is for those of us who are getting up there in years and the other is for the younger healthier eyes. ;) did I spell that correctly I can't see it to well and my guide dog can't read. :)

You need to be sure their are no state regs. on what you are doing. I did a daycare center and the Dept. of Health had their own guide lines on lighting. I had to achieve 52 lumen's at desk height for a child which is about 2 ft above the floor. Sent room drawings to supplier they came back with a drawing of what to use and placement of fixtures.
