Do lighting control panels that do not have over current protection, but just relays, require dedicated space?
I agree, but unfortunately AHJ has a differing opinion when it comes to dedicated space.Let's be clear about terms.
Do lighting control panels require working clearance (i.e., in front, to allow for safe working)? Yes.
Do they require dedicated equipment space (i.e., above, for future installation of conduits)? No.
Perhaps true. But the NEC is extremely explicit on this point. Exactly four things need dedicated equipment space: Switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, and panelboards. My belief is that this list was selected because these items have the possibility of the future installation of more conduits. The intent would be to reserve room for them. For all other types of equipment, including lighting control panels, once installed, there is never a need for future conduits.I agree, but unfortunately AHJ has a differing opinion when it comes to dedicated space.
