I have a dog grooming business that I am doing some work in, I ordered an exhaust fan to draw the steam out of their dog bathing room, I would like to make the fan automatic so that employees dont have to remember to turn it off at the end of the day or weekends. I found a line voltage humidistat that is rated for 1 amp at 120 volts, but the fan I am installing is rated at 1 amp also, normally I want to have a little more cushion than that, do you thing it would wear out pematurely? If this is not a good design, I could use a low voltage humidistat with a transformer and set a relay, I would just prefer the simplicity of the line voltage. any comments?

If the humistat is rated 1 amp and the fan is also then I don't see the problem. Surely there are humidstats rated higher than 1 amp.

Here is one from Graingers that is 7.5 amps.
