I don't want to bust your thinking, but it's not big brother, It's big business, the insurance underwriters are the ones pushing the inspections.
maybe this is true but who do you pay for the permit? I know for me I'm paying the county and they send out the county paid inspector. The insurance doesn't send out an inspector for this.

Sorry for busting your thinking....I didn't mean too.

While there is more voltage and a potential shock hazard with the phone wires when it is ringing, they do not have enough energy to be a fire hazard. Low voltage lighting has enough current to make enough heat to start fires.

Don, I have some pictures of a Low voltage lighting fire. I will have to find them and post.

Why?
Don't you believe the Steelers will get far enough to play the Giants??? ;):grin:
Well it won't be in NY Pierre. The Super Bowl is not in NY. That is the only game where we will see them play each other. Besides the Giants aren't sitting at the top of the pile awaiting their next opponents. They have to play and stay alive just like the rest. :)

I go at least 6 inches on any low voltage job, other wise youll be back very soon on a warranty work. And I like to use the rab posts. Otherwise if you just use a spike they will eventually fall over and look like crap.

I can't remember ever doing any landscape lighting without a permit.

I can't remember ever doing any landscape lighting with a permit.

We are allowed to pump our own gas here too

I read column five as "circuits for control.... AND/OR landscape lighting..."

From the 05 code. Column 5: Circuits for Control of Irrigation and Landscape Lighting.....

6" burial is required, imho.

The intent may be to include both irrigation control and landscape lighting but that's not the way that it's written.

yet another state I won't ever have to worry about.

Virginia is alright with me.

Another Virginia icon, Thomas Jefferson stopped Federal lending to banks, because he knew usury adequately exploited an infuriated public, without uncle Sam subsidizing it to higher levels.

Went on a call and the lady said somthing is burning and this fell on the golf corse topo display. I looked and it was drops of red molten plastic. I looked up at the T&G and it hit me. That's a wire nut. Cut a box hole in the T&G and there was 5 #10 LV wires burned and the spring thred to the wire nut. Yes LV can be a fire hazard.

Colorado:
Low voltage - no permit required unless it is Fire Alarm related...

Telephone: No permit
Landscape light: No permit
CCTV system: No permit
Cable: No permit

If I remember correctly: Arizona is that way too.

I bid a job that I did not get on some landscape lighting, I'll bet the next guy was a kick some dirt over the wire type guy. I planned for at least six inches or 18 inches for 120. 3 inches doesnt sound right?
