Does the make up air that’s being brought in have to be located in the general area of the hood or can it just simply be brought into the dwelling anywhere convenient?Hi everyone I need help how to wire makeup air dumper to range hood over 400cfm When hood is ON make up dumper must open. Or I should temper with range hood and install same size wire as power supply to hood and run it to dumper? or use current transformer next to electrical panel that will detect when hood is energized currently transformer will energize dumper I font want to over complicate something what suppose to be simple

As long as there is no doors in the path of the air flow they can go in a room adjacent to the kitchen.Does the make up air that’s being brought in have to be located in the general area of the hood or can it just simply be brought into the dwelling anywhere convenient?
That would require a hot air heating system correct?I was thinking into the HVAC return duct or plenum.
Ok. What happens in warm climates or during the summer months when the MU air has to be cooled? Nothing like working in a 100 degree kitchen with essentially no AC because hot air is being drawn in from outside. Commercial systems pull air through the HVAC systems which heat and cool as necessary. Problem is doing that in a residential setting just for a hood over 750CFM is not something I have heard of. Does anybody make a reversable heat pump MU air system that heats and cools? The Fantech has an option for an electric duct heater.
That is one reason why you would want the makeup air intake to be close as possible to the hood. I'm kind of surprised that no one has made a hood with the makeup air ducting built in. I did see a custom installation on YouTube where they made a plenum out of the hood enclosure which allowed the makeup air to go directly from the hood plenum right back out of the hood.Ok. I don't think MU air is a priority for them. They want to sell cutsie hoods that require minimal installation. MU air provisions would probably triple the cost and require HVAC and tin knockers to install it. I think the MU air requirement is just an annoyance for them. Heck, many of those hoods aren't even vented outside.I'm kind of surprised that no one has made a hood with the makeup air ducting built in.
Actually I thnik that it will happen with more and more building departments enforcing the more than 400 CFM rule. Most hoods in this category will be vented outside and the need for makeup air in high end kitchens is creating all sorts of design problems such as the make up air being 100° in the summer.I don't think MU air is a priority for them. Try a pressure switch we use them often MUA dampers on exhaust hoods also for booster fans on dryer exhaustsHi everyone I need help how to wire makeup air dumper to range hood over 400cfm When hood is ON make up dumper must open. That's what made me think of make-up air being introduced into the HVAC return. Most hoods in this category will be vented outside and the need for makeup air in high end kitchens is creating all sorts of design problems such as the make up air being 100° in the summer.
I guess that would work if you also had hot air heat. Not going to work for AC only. That's what made me think of make-up air being introduced into the HVAC return.
Most of the commercial systems I have done, the make up air built into the front of the hood, so conditioned air is not needed. It may be different up north.Ok.
