Matching knock-outs with your conduits

anybody have any tips of the best way to make sure all your knock-out line up with your conduits when you have a lot of conduits like seen in the picture below ?FB_IMG_1738706715051.jpg

It all comes down to accurate measurements and your ability to transfer them to the box. IMO since black sharpie all over the outside of a pull box looks terrible I always used blue tape. Yes the connectors are loose to help slide this on to the EMT that's why the set screws aren't all pointing straight down. :giggle:

But if you make it up, then slide it onto the conduit, how do you tighten the setscrews in the middle rows ?
 
I would add that the Milwaukee punch with the cross hairs on the dies is real nice.
Cross hairs are actually better for smaller EMT (2" and less) because the KO's are larger than the actual raceway diameter. If you measured the spacing between the runs of EMT and then transfered those spaces to your KO layout the KOs would be all wrong. For 2 1/2" and larger you can layout the spaces directly and use the edges to guide the edge of the KO punch.

Let say I have row of 10-1" EMT's like in the OP and the space between each is 1". If I lay out the KO's on the box with a 1" space between each KO the EMT spacing will be off because the 1" EMT has a diameter of ~1 1/8" but the KO is actually 1 3/8". So the actual space between the KO's is only 3/4". With 10 EMT's in a row by the time you get to the end you'll be off by quite a bit. In this case the layout of the KO's is easier when just using the centers of the hole and the aforementioned cross hairs.

Right I always go with center of ko. Maybe I am misunderstanding, are you saying there is a disadvantage of using the crosshair/center method for larger sizes?

We would use the cross hairs, but use a hole saw that matched the exact size of the KO punch pull bolt. Nothing to line up when using the KO as the hole was a tight fit for the pull bolt. This method works better if you have the slug splitter KO as it makes getting the slug off the pull bolt easier.
