I need a day off. Not just Sunday, clean the pool, tend to the yard, 2 oil changes and cook 2 meals.

Six days a week is getting to me. I still have to clean up after dinner and I'm trying to figure out the control wiring for the Miami DOH chiller.

I know many of you folks are slow now, but who is still working six a week?

Thanks for listening.

I could do that if I wanted to, but I won't. I force myself to come home at 4pm every day, and only do Saturdays if the world's coming to an end (so to speak). My Dad worked 100-110 hours a week for almost my entire growing up, and I'm not gonna do it. A man only needs so much money.

I have to ask, do you not have the option to work a 'normal week'? Are you afraid that it will hurt you chances for future raises, or possibly make you a candidate for layoff? Are you just a workaholic? I'm all for the Puritan work ethic, but every man's got to draw a line someplace.

If you've got too much, Marc, send the excess to me.

I typiclly work every day. Not necessarily 8-12 hours each, but I still do some work each day. Today was two bids.

That's great, and I'm almost the same way. In the end, all that does is stress you out.

It is cool work as we all know. Even after a bad day I can rest my head on the pillow and know I built something or fixed something.

I just need some time.

And a raise.

I am. M-F 10 hour days plus Saturday work weeks have become a very typical setup for me. Not because I want to, but because I have to. Also to add like 480 says, even on Sundays they are usually spent doing some type of paperwork or bidding or preparing material orders etc etc. I just keep telling myself it's better than having a day off due to lack of work.

Chris Kennedy... you are
now on vacation!

I really want to work. I just don't do what is needed to get the business. Lately I've been stuck with a foot injury on my big toe. Two Fridays ago my foot felt better so I did 5 hour job and ended up aggravating the injury. So now I'm stuck again.

If you're working too much you can burn yourself out, but if you're saving the extra money you are making you should be able to schedule yourself a little vacation.

I hate cliches but you may not so here is one: Get it while the getting is good.

Chris,
You live in Miami. What are you doing!!
Your goal should be to work a 4 day week, then 3.
Ever think of working for yourself?

Um, no, that must have been some other kids. I was working.

Mark - curious. You said your dad worked 100 hours a week. Was he in the trade? That's a ton of hours!
I worked 7-10s on a nuclear power plant, but after 8 weeks, I had had enough.
