Right here.
Anybody have a microwave set up in their truck? I'm considering doing that. The electrical part is no problem, but the mechanical part, like mounting and damage prevention, has some options. If anyone has any pictures they'd like to share, I'd like to see them.

I'm sure you're looking for something not-quite-as-spectacular as this abortion:

What kind of "truck" are you talking about?

Step van, but I suppose the actual mounting of the microwave would be generic to any sort of truck. I have seen one in the side bin of a bucket truck. The "food preperation compartment" is a standard option now when you order a new bucket truck. They use a special microwave, the way it appears. I want to use a $99 one from Wal-Mart.

I've worked with guys who have done that.... they just take the plastic strapping plumbers use and screw that down & across the nuke macine.

I guess after the recession we will have to learn to live out of our cars.

there's no pipe rack on that truck-------or is it retractable?

i recently built a house in north florida and almost all the sub contractors pull trailers and all of them have a microwave......

I would just install it on a shelf with a lip or a tiedown, should be just fine.

A guy suggested to me to just take the bolts out of the rubber feet, and run them through a shelf and back into the microwave again. When I read that it was one of those "Duh!" moments.

A shelf with a lip might not work most of the time, since the door has to swing open. I've also been advised that the glass turntable will break in travel, so get rid of it.

I thought about the lip and the door problem after I posted, I dont know if I would buy a micro that big for a truck that had a turntable.... I was thinking something smaller...

There are microwaves in motor homes that do a lot of traveling so there must be a model that travels well. You may wish to check with a company that supplies appliances for those.

Same with large boats. You may want to try to buy a micro from a marine or rv store since it will come with the mounting brackets and anything else you will need. Some guys around here haul a micro and take it out of the truck at lunch and plug it into the generator.

If you have any problems wiring it up i'm sure someone here can help you...
Well... I just didn't want a manifesto on wiring up high current draw appliances in a vehicle, when all I really wanted to know about was mounting.

Looks like I've got a few options now.

Wiring it isn't a problem... just drag out one of your 100' extension cords.
...while parked behind McDonald's.

That would be funny. Walk into a restaurant with a coiled up extension cord, and ask them, "you got any place I can plug this in outside?"
