Partly correct, but not all hi-def is digital. Component video, like XVGA, is analog and every bit as hi-def as digital, and has some advantages as well.

There have numerous capacitance studies done to show that monster cables are no better than the majority of any other decent quality cables out there. You could probably find them online by googling "monster cable capacitance test" or something similar.

I also have some of the monster bass cables that I use but it is purely for the lifetime warranty, it does not matter what happens to the cable, if it is ruined all you gotta do is go to a dealer and they take the old one and hand you a new one no questions asked, I have done this at least 5 times in the last 10 years. Makes you wonder how much money they are making on us eh???

EP, If you are interested in making your own instrument cables check out Canare GS-6 cable and Neutrik jacks. You can get 100ft. of cable for under a hundred bucks and if you are good at soldering you will have plenty of cables that absolutely crush monster in terms of quality & fidelity. :grin:

Just to keep this post on topic I think those range and dryer cords are ridiculous.

I lived in a home made tree fort in a coconut grove by the beach at Rincon Puerto Rico from September 1974- June 1974. No electricity. Just surfing, catching fish and lobster and dining on coconuts. But then again I was 17 years old, fresh out of high school. At that age it didn't seem so rough at all, mater of fact it was a great time. Too bad things like that can't go on forever. Now Rincon beaches are buried under condo's and hotels.

So you managed to make time go in reverse? Sep.-June 1974. Just kidding. I guess you meant Sept. 74-June 75. That sounds pretty cool. I wish I could say I've done something similar but I didn't. I did stay in Puerto Rico once for a week in a hotel. Might have been one of the ones that are now on top of Rincon. :)

Whoops, Sept 73-June 74. I graduated 73, flew down there the day after graduation, and lived in hostels from June to Sept, then built a thatched roof thingamajig to live in in the coconut grove. I didn't pioneer this, there were dozens of other surf rats down there doing the same thing.

When is the last time you were in Rincon? It has been on my list of places to go surf for 10 years and I think this year may be the one. I have been told it is a great place to go, just not on weekends because of the localism, a friend of mine showed me pictures of Tres Palmas from last winter, it was huuuuuge. Some great surf there.

I use the monster pro 3500 to protect my $25,000 worth of music equipment. These conditioners are built better then furman for sure. As far as their audio cables... all hype, I use a different brand.

Matt, where do you find unbiased info on such equipment?

Truthfully without a lot of expensive testing gear how do we know if it really does what it is supposed to or it is just a box with some stuff in it?

I can entirely understand why you would want to protect your gear, perhaps the best way is a contactor that disconnects the equipment when your not using it?
