Even in a house I usually like the switches at 42". Don't know why I just thought 48" was too high

It’s usually to make it easier on the Sheetrock hangers. I don’t think the finishers like it that much though.

KCMO metro code enforced 4' in garages and basements. Always. Or unfinished spaces as well.

I think ADA are the only ones that specifies certain heights outside of NEC hazardous locations.

Yes the NEC has no height requirement for these receptacles so if a jurisdiction is requiring the receptacles to be installed at a certain minimum height in dwelling garaged then it would have to be required by a local amendment.
And the NJ DCA, through the UCC is the only body in NJ that's allowed to do that.

I'm coming up on 65 and I like things to not require bending down. Especially If I have to move stuff out of the way
