NM strapping?

I have seen NM cable fastened to wall studs with metal strapping. Did not get a good look, but I think it was not simply pipe strapping but NM cable strapping. It held about 4 pieces of cable, side by side with the metal strapping folded over the cable, then about 1 or 2 inches of the strapping was attached to the stud. Does anyone know if this is a manufactored product?
I need to fasten NM cable runs to the walls of basements w/out a running board. Did one install with regular pipe strapping folded over the NM cable and then shot into the block wall. (We will see what the AHJ thinks....)Is there an actual product to fasten NM cable walls?

Question 2: Since it could be argued that these basement walls are damp, must the NM cable be held away from the wall surface?

Yes, this was used commonly at least 30 years ago for strapping service cable risers, range cables, and other heavy cables. I'm not sure if it had a trade name. It was just a metal strap, with a hole in each end. Once you wrapped it around the cable, the two holes lined up and you drove in a nail. Good luck finding that now. You might be able to buy it where ever knobs, tubes, and loom are sold.

Those straps that you've mentioned sound like a Caddy product called a 'Colorado Jim Strap'. I believe that they're listed for fastening NM and metal clad cables.

Regarding your second question, I would not consider the wall of a basement a damp location. Although some others might have a different opinion.

3M stackers are made for furring strips and for 2 x 4`s they are SIFS - 1 STACK - IT and SI - 1.
Bridgeport also makes one that is only rated for 14/2,NMWH - 43.There is another I have used like a stacker but there is a latching loop in the end that can hold up to 5 14/2`s and has on mounting hole on the end.

I had no idea a CJ6 was ok for romex.Should i ever do another house i will keep it in mind.They would do a lot metter job of holding than the 3M plastic stackers.

When there are alot of drops into a lets say a 4 gang box I back to back 2 3m furring stackers and zip tie the nm in place,no bundling and the ahj likes the install
