The only way to get anything into a plastic JBs is to drill them. But I really don't see much room on that device box to put in a 1/2" KO.

As far as the bonding, put a bonding bushing on the MC connector to satisfy the exception. In 20 something years I can only remember having to bring MC into a PVC junction box one time.
Not true many plastic boxes have 1/2" kos in them.

The jacket is not suitable as a bond. Isnt that why they ran the ground wire??
There's a difference between being bonded and being used for bonding.

Where does art. 330.40 come into play. I doubt that nonmetallic box is listed for MC.

When have you ever seen any box listed for some particular wiring method? Reference Arlington OneBox.

I usually don't read the listing-- to be honest, however what is the purpose of the art. I quoted.

I guess one could also ask "What is the purpose of the exception for Art.314.3?"

This has been a good discussion so far, lets keep it going.

You don't need a red head with MC

duplex connectors

Excellent use of the brain!

I run across situations in rework that call for this. Old resi BX...new NM added.

I prefer the plastic box for ease of installation, non conductivity and capacity.

I have never seen a box listed for only one wiring method, even an metal old work box with NM clamps often has 1/2" KOs to enter other wiring methods.

Carlon makes JB with 1/2" or 3/4" nock outs but I don't believe they make a device box with them. That being said I don't believe I have ever brought MC into a plastic JB.

Suppose it didn't originate at the panel and was in the middle of a run.
Ok so use a duplex connector with a bond bushing just for fun. Have you ever wired an em light that was all plastic in mc cable?
