eric9822?s reply is right on the money. And what?s with all the fuss in some of the posts about a control transformer in the MCC. That is irrelevant to the feeds from the MCC to the disconnect and motor. There could be a heater circuit to the motor, either for external heat, or applying voltage to the windings while the motor is off. A competent electrician can easily determine either of these scenarios. In my experience, a calm, friendly discussion with those pushing, overboard, safety practices usually helps them better understand the situation and come around to agreement.
