But guess what I called the AHJ on a situation in an old house where I needed to install a 200 a panel and all I had was 18" above floor, He turned me down . I had to cut 6" out of a 4x12 beam to get 24" . I know its not in the code but around here you dont aegue with the ahj, They will nic pic your jobs to death if you do.
