Okay since we are talking about quality of panels, how do you guys rank your panels? the materials used in the construction, the ease of installation, Cost, thats all i've ever used mentality, what makes you think one panel is better than the rest?

For us, it's cost. We get good pricing on Square D equipment.

If I had my way I'd use another brand which is more readily available from the supply chain which dominates our area. Availabilty from anywhere in town and relatively close to a branch, wherever you might be working, which supplys them.

Our Square D supplier has few locations so we have to keep the shop stock up to snuff to make it work.

So I call the chief electrical inspector for the county and explain the situation and he grants me an exception. He grandfathered it. As is his right.

I did discover that originally this was a landry room and at some point someone took out the washer and dryer and put a toilet in there.
(Bold added by me for some ribbing later..:) )

I think the last sentence sums up how the inspector made his decision. Since the original install was a laundry room it was indeed most likely Code compliant originally. As a future inspector myself, I would have also allowed it. :)

Now for the ribbing: :)

"Landry" room? Is that where you learn the "Win at all costs" teachings of football?

Seriously though, a terrific looking install, especially having to deal with the old SE and romex. That would earn you a bonus working for my company.

Electric baseboard, well pump,...

I don't ever recall putting nine 2-poles in a resi service, new or existing, unless it was an all-electric house. And 'round here, that means a 400a service.

Why? The main's not tripping. What's the problem?

Yup.

Some of the 240 loads were not even on two pole breakers to begin with.

Remove and replace loadcenter. That's it.
