Doing an ATS, Square D meter/main.

Square D does that thing where they run parallel conductors from the meter to the main disco. 🙄

I want to go into the ATS with single 3/0 conductors, and transition to the parallel conductors in the meter/main, (plenty of room) with a Polaris connector.

I don’t know of anything that would prohibit that. I’m not familiar with any provision that requires parallel conductors to remain parallel to any specific point.

If you are placing your Polaris connectors in the bottom space of the meter main you would likely only have tom worry about the tap rules on your conductors. 312.8 comes into place concerning space but it's not usually a problem

Yeah I do this a lot, just like you’re describing.

But usually I’m working with Eaton stuff, and SD does that goofy parallel thing.

If you mean intercepting the factory wires between the meter and the main, that's a listing no-no.

Maybe. It’s done all the time, I draw it and submit it to the building dept like that, inspectors sign off on it, there is not any way to add an ATS any other way, and while it may be technically a Code issue, it’s not in the least bit a problem.

Why I always say, the Code is pretty good, I follow it because greater minds than mine came up with it, but its not the Tablets in the hands of Moses.
