Re: physical damage?

I think there are plenty of AHJ that woul dsay that this location subject to damage, but in my opiion, it will probably be okay.

I would much rather see RNC or any other rigid system verses flexible or some cable method.

Call your local AHJ and tell them your intent to see how restrictive they are on this rule. :)

Re: physical damage?

Schedule 80 PVC would be ok I guess, but i would use rigid metallic conbuit myself! Especially if this is a feeder for a panel or something carrying a lot of current like a pool or spa.

Re: physical damage?

It is a feeder for a 200a residential loadcenter from a combination meterbase/disco.

This is in a jurisdiction that I've never worked in before. If I can't get any input from the AHJ, I may go with emt. Good compromise between rnmc and rigid?

Thanks for the input.

Re: physical damage?

What is "Physical Damage" as far as a NEC definition? Is it a mar on a finish, a crushed conduit, or a devastated building? :)

Re: physical damage?

Bennie's right,but it says " severe physical damage"in 358.12(1).

In any event I just got a call from the AHJ ,and I meet with him Tuesday next. I guess I'll get HIS defination of Physical Damage.Good of him to call from his home,I hope thats a good sign.

Btw Roger, It's in Andrews. Maybe you can come and inspect this one. :D

Thanks for the replys, I'll post back with the results of the conversation.
