Way to go! Now just remember to undersize the neutral.

Momma aint' gonna like Pop running his router in the lving room. If he uses it in the garage or basement like he's supposed to, there's no light dimming because the lights aren't on that circuit.
If I were to plan for the worst case scenario every time, each receptacle would have to be a dedicated 20a.
My mention of the router is one from my home - because the living room remodel does occassionally require the router up here.... But - You do get what I mean right???? Vaccums, who knows what else - I had a service call where the stereo dimmed the lights, a stack of amplifiers, I wish it had done it to the beat....It's a new home. Why not call the HVAC folks if it's cold? If I were to plan for the worst case scenario every time, each receptacle would have to be a dedicated 20a.

That sounds like a couple places where the person could use a dedicated circuit run, not a deficiency on the part of the original install. My mention of the router is one from my home - because the living room remodel does occassionally require the router up here.... Exactly - and the lights being essentially a fixed load means they aren't going out when some HO loads the recepts up.I have said pretty much the same many times. Any multiple receptacle circuit in any location can be overloaded
I suppose that why countries that employ such circuits generally require regular impedance testing. That would cause some interesting issues with current balancing between the conductors, the current may want to return in one direction while the supply may be higher on the other direction. May even cause EMF issues.
That particular stereo needed 2-20's.... But a Miele Vaccum dragged room to room... Or my wifes old 12.5 amp Hoover... I think the only reason you don't notice the lights dimm with it, is that you shutter from the noise when it starts....That sounds like a couple places where the person could use a dedicated circuit run, not a deficiency on the part of the original install.

Many variable speed motors do - Vaccums were when I noticed it - and since I belive vaccum manufacturers have works to correct that, I doubt Bosch has...My variable speed router trips the AFCI every time, hey I may have a new "home made tool" the router/AFCI circuit tester.
I beg to differ pal!!! :grin:There is no bogeyman hiding in the dark.![]()
And we use wago's, plastic staples, plastic boxes and back stab devices (though we pigtail everything). The sky hasn't fallen yet!![]()
I use metal staples driven flush with the stud using a waffle face framing hammer. For splices i use the copper tube things you squeeze with pliers then i put some duct tape on them (its stronger than that black suff the hacks use) For a 20amp circuit, you can drill out the hole in the back of the outlet to let the wire fit. This is a good trick that was taught to me by an expert handyman.

Using a living room as a living room gererally means no routers. You, on the other hand, are remodelling yours. So your case is a rare exception. Unless you enjoy running your router in the living room while watching football or playing poker with the guys on Thursday nights.![]()
