Pool bonding

Came across this yesterday . The Equipotential bonding wire that circles the pool was attached to a ground rod and the pool pump and water filter were attached also to ground rod. Any thoughts on this ?

If there is a panel out by the equipment then using the ground rod is unnecessary but it doesn't hurt, afaik... Eventually all the equipotential bonding does go back to the grounding electrodes anyway

250.52 prohibits the pool bonding listed in 680.26 to be used as a facility grounding electrode but, as Dennis states, there is nothing prohibiting a ground rod in the 680.26 bonding.
