My field is industrial power electronics, stee mills, petrochemic paper mills......... To that extent we don't, as a rule, do the external wiring/cabling but we still have to check it all. And I still don't what the socks are }

I use a steel "sock" that is for strain relief on overhead services. Always grab the whole bundle and tape in the ground to make sure it doesn't fall out. Never had an issue.

We used to make our own socks by weaving a pattern similar to those shown. Want to be real popular? Have your sock fail just short of what you need. What a nightmare.

I was pulling a +100' pull. I had a guy helping who was on the feed end. I instructed him to make sure no tangles, the wire was coming off the spools straight, and all wires going in the conduit.
When the head came through I started taking the head apart, only to find out the ground wire was not in the bundle. It had slipped out about half way. They helper said he didn't notice!!!

Back to the drawing board!
