Yes. See 210.19(A)(3).I am working with old houses with old breaker boxes and can not find a replacement breaker. If I hardwire a "RANGE" with a #6 awg wires and a 70 amp Breaker protection. Am I in violation of the "National Electric code"?
There's not a maximum limit in Section 210. Section 422 doesn't provide a maximum limit unless the range has a demand of more than 60A. And then the manufacturer would have to subdivide the load.I was pretty certain there was 50 amp OCPD limit somewhere, but though maybe was in 210. Looks like it is what you mentioned though in 422.
