Re indentifying wires in mc cable?

I did a no-no a few years ago. I stripped the red conductor everywhere it was exposed to use as the EGC for an isolated-ground circuit, using the green as the IG conductor.

From my experience that's typically the case when you have an isolated grounding system. :)
 
I've lost track of the number of POS recpts that I've demod in old stores that have an IG tagged to a non IG recpt.

My favorite was at the college I used to work at.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s someone must have heard that all computers must be on IG receptacles. Tons were installed using 12/2 MC and NM. Whoops!

It gets worse. Many were ran to sub panels that had no ground bus because all EGCs were conduit so the new cable wire EGC was put into the neutral bus. Double Whoops!!
