Receptacle in a drawer--possible?

Re: Receptacle in a drawer--possible?

First you would still need an outlet adjacent to the sink.
After that, as long as it is installed legally, I see nothing wrong in regards to NEC.
However, the NEC is designed for safe and proper electrical installations. No matter how hard we try and protect them from electricity, we cannot protect them from their own stupidity(as in allen's example of the W/H raceway). Maybe we should, however, limit the possibilities of such as much as possible.
In respect to this outlet, I would personally would not install it. Mostly because I can't think of the proper response to the fire chief when he asks me what I was thinking.

Re: Receptacle in a drawer--possible?

How about putting a limit switch on the draw , so when the draw closes the recpt. shuts off. It's only another 20.oo dollars and you look like a genius. jmo

Re: Receptacle in a drawer--possible?

However, industrial limit switches are only rated to switch 5 amps at 120 volts. You would need a power relay to go with it.

The limit switch is a fantastic idea.

Re: Receptacle in a drawer--possible?

I like waynes idea, but with all the junk that would probably be in that drawer that that hot curling iron is pluged into,It would not close all the way anyway:D

Drawering, that's another good one.
Let's Go Yankees! ;) :p

Back to the drawer light,
I'm still not convinced that the light goes out when the drawer is closed.

If I use a limit switch and cube relay, what time will it be when the house burns down?

Re: Receptacle in a drawer--possible?

It all depends if it's an ice cube relay and how many btu's it's rated for. Or 12:00 midnight

frank--lol
