RedHeads - The Story Of My Life

Arlington makes big ones and a couple of their combo mc big connectors come with multiple sizes
Yeah I get big ones sometimes for MC feeder cable. They are also called "throat liners" in larger sizes. I like the Arlington 8413 series of MC connectors, and those come with "end stop bushings" which don't go in between the conductors and the sheath, but you can get one of those throat liners in there too if you want.

That includes FMC and LT flex. About only place I've seen such a bushing is on the factory installed pigtail for cooktops and ovens. I always figured it is more for protection during shipping type of thing than a requirement to be installed with it. I doubt you can go to supply house and ask for this bushing to put in your field cut pieces of flex and they actually have a product other than if there are places that maybe do frequently sell larger sizes of AC cable might have something on hand.
Thomas and Betts sells slip in insulators for metal flex conduit. the clamp style flex connectors have a small hole so the inspector can see that the insulator is there

Like Larry, I don't throw that stuff away.

I have plenty of "red heads" from ~3/8 sized AC/MC cable as well.

I pretty much quit installing them when I realized several years back that MC doesn't require them, yet still seem to keep them off every reel of cable for no good reason.

Look in the plumbing section:

Thanks! It needs to about 9" wide - 6" post, 2 2x6 studs. I've been dreading it for ages.

It doesn't have to be a marketed product, you can make your own out of 1/16" thick sheet metal stock and with that there is somewhat unlimited size you could have.

Macmikeman almost always puts a red head in when running MC Cables. They are free with the roll of the cable. I know all about the code not requiring it.. The code doesn't require taping receptacle outlets either, but I do for metal gem boxes with f-clips sitting a mere 1/8" away from receptacle terminals. Both things make sense. Both things are better installations. Remembert this- Wire is fire. Think about babies and children burning in a fire because it wasn't a code requirement. Nor will that fake AFCI stop the flames. Merry Christmas everybody.
That was my reasoning. It was also the reason for using MC in the first place.

I knew that. I'd rather buy something the right size than get out my metal sheers and do it myself.

Over a certain size you will have fewer choices. I will suggest maybe one of those component mounting panels for installing inside some control cabinet enclosure if you want to purchase something already made for you but in a larger size

1/16" is a bit thick to cut with shears. If you have no sources local (I have a welding and fabrication shop nearby) there are places on-line that will cut you anything you need.

For just a one time plate and no bigger than she wants to have, I'd have no problem using a recriprocating saw or grinder to cut it out. Acetylene torch with cutting head is also an option I do have to me, but not as common as the saw or grinder might be for many people, then there is places that have plasma cutter that will do it for me or even let me use it myself. Have had places in past that would have let me use a larger metal shear they had, but those are not in business anymore and the shear went away even though there is another business in the same place that I have relations with. So it also comes down to who you know and what they may do for you to some extent. Most the places I mentioned were places I did electrical service work and installs for on somewhat regular basis.

Can you use two smaller plates butted together? Two 5 x 8s would give you 10 x 8.

Happy Chanukkah, by the way. 🕎
I'll look at them when I get to the Orange Store tomorrow. There are 3 cables which cross that pipe, so I need several of them anyway. If I can't find what I want from that list, I'll just buy sheet metal and cut it to size.

Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate, Merry Christmas to those of y'all, and Festivus was 2 days ago and I hope you aired your grievances.

I have an entire collection of tools for destroying things. Back when I was running my solar business I picked up all kinds of things for fabricating sheet metal. I gave away my sheet metal brake when I moved north, but all the other tools moved with me.

A light hearted reply - well it is Christmas!
I moved south with various tools and instruments, Lots of them. We have now moved to the Yorkshire Dales in England. when I retired. So I have not a lot of tools I need. And, being retired, I'm not the redhead I was.................

I don't change my social media profile photos.

My hair hasn't been that color in ages.

My face hasn't been that wrinkle free in ages.

And yeah, that's a very old laptop if it has a PS2 connector for that equally very old keyboard.

Merry Christmas and a Happy Boxing Day tomorrow.

I know. That's why I am not the redhead I was and don't claim to be. I am 76 but I still have a good head of silver hair.
Enjoy your day.
