residential fuse blowing

Thermostat would call for fan to run and fuse would blow.

Cool. I didn't think about that. Now if I can just remember that when I need it.:smile:

Did you disconnect the feed to that attic fan or just disconnect the motor? Possibility of a short in the t-stat or the wiring from the stat to the motor....also noticed you said master bedroom was an addition..possibility of a flying splice buried in the walls or even a stray nail through the romex..run your tic tracer all over the walls on the suspected wire path and see if it registers..

Another possibility is some device the HO is plugging in is bad and has an intermittent short. Me thinks you need to ask a lot more questions.

Finally, don't rule out the alarm clock..it may also be going bad, or the plug is damaged from furniture or the bed...

Male sure you Check the the center screw in the fuse holder and make sure its good and tight. Tape the tip of your screw driver about 2 in. so you dont touch the the side of the fuse holder.

Most fuse panels are constructed in such a way that the center terminal of the fuse "socket" is fastened to the bus by means of a 10-32 machine screw. Sometimes simply tightening this screw will correct the problem. If it is a "fustat", you might have to remove the fustat adapter in order to get to the contact screw.

You have to dis-assemble the adapter. Cut the top off, remove the guts, unscrew the socket.

My ex-boss used to have a tool to do it.

I had an attic fan with a short attached to the kitchen circuit . The fuse held for hours until the thermostat called for the fan .
