Residential Smoke Alarms

Gadfly corrected me that the NFPA 72 does apply by refrence in our residential code:
R314.7.1 General
Fire alarm systems shall comply with the provisions of this code and the household fire warning equipment provisions of NFPA 72
It appears only NFPA 72 adoption defines fire alarm system with FACP, but NEC 90.4 informs us AHJ can interpret, or amend what individual-alarm circuit applies to NEC 210.12(A) Exception.
 
That is an issue for all occupancies.
I only said "especially in a dwelling" because pretty much everything in a dwelling is normally accessible to the occupant, most of who likely are qualified personnel, where if it were non dwelling it may at least have a chance of having restricted access to certain things.
