Romex in a Conduit

What the heck are you talking about? The OP posted a pic of a ballast disconnect inside of a panel.

Peter,

I think I regret using that silly DIY picture.
It has become a distraction,
and caused several questions not germane to my discussion.

Good thing I didn't use another DIY pic which is described as follows:
There is a pvc conduit rising out of the floor and going into a breaker panel. This 3/4 RNMC is glued into a 3/4 rigid coupling, threaded onto a 3/4 pvc male adapter, glued into a 1/2 pvc bell stub, glued into a 1/2 pvc male adapter, fitted and lock-nutted into a 1/2 " KO in a panel. I suppose it was because he did not know how to knock out the 3/4 concentric rings.

appears to be connected by the panel mounting screw and looped counter-clockwise....
if there's a short the ballast disconnect will probably melt before the ground fails :)

Gus,

You are right. Good observation.
On the original question, I have a good answer from the group.
Thank you Roger for the first Illustration, right to the point.
Thank you guys.

I thought a little picture would help the discussion along.
I was trying so hard to be so clear and concise,
and look what happened!

Maybe the moderator will put me out of my misery,
and just delete this thread!

Peter,
This was a DIY, no telling what the guy had in mind.

hmm, maybe he saw them at homedepot and thought they were 2 pole wagos. They come already plugged together in the package.....

i am curious, if you were to pull that romex out of the conduit, if there is an inline splice with another one. The romex is yellow going into the pipe, what color is it where it comes out? :D

Wire,

Probably bright Orange, 16 guage, 200' long,
plugged into the house outlet!

I am getting embarrased.
This thread has got to die!

... egc connection ...

Jumper,
Thanks for teasing a detail out of the photo.
Now, I see the EGC you mentioned.

I need to edit my response
""This is a DIY. Don't even look at his EGC connection, thanks.""
into
""This is a DIY. I Did not even look at his EGC connection, thanks.""

The change being that "I Did Not Even Look" at it.

I think that I am being too serious about my particular question,
and missing the fun to be had in pulling and picking and teasing
at odd photos about violations.

WireGuru asked where or what color the Romex turned into as it passed through the conduit. I never thought about that either.

I am sitting here with a calculator in hand,
like I was still in school,
trying to figure out the universe,
and you guys are having all the fun!

I notice that a lot here. A question is asked, someone adds an "if" to it, and the thing spins around and ends up who knows where.

Work is slow and there's a lot of pent up information out there.
