Sat. Dish Grounding. NEC

Not sure where else to go with this, so I hope someone can provide an answer. Everyone does say, "Go to Mike Holt".

I am simply trying to get my sat. dish grounded properly. My dish is on the other side of the house than the service entrance ground. That should not be that unusual. I know I need to install a ground rod at the sat. dish, then run a #6 bond wire to the GEC ground. If I do that outside, I will have several bends (around corners and up and around 2 door frames). I can run it up and through the attic and down the other side with only a couple of bends. This is the great debate I have encountered on the various sat. tv forums. Some say, "heck no, don't do that or you could have thousands of volts running through the house in the event of a lightning strike". Other say, "no problem because the potential will be the same between the two rods. And the code allows it."

If the code truly does allow it, then I think I can assume that it is a safe way to go. It is the bond wire, not the ground from the dish that I want to run through the attic. Also, I assume it should be insulated #6 copper if I do this. So, does anyone out there know if this is really safe and to code?
