trunk slammer

trunk slammer

moderator, moderator, moderator, please inform your posters that "trunk slammer" is a vile golf term. it refers to wealthy golfer who has joined an expensive private golf club yet changes into his golf shoes from his car rather than walk into the lockerroom; for the sole purpose of not crossing paths with any staff persons he would be expected to tip. it is clearly hate speak and should not be tolerated.

So both electrical trunk slammers and the golf trunk slammer are trying to save money, the electrical slammer on permits, and the golf slammer on tips.

Employee or sub-contractor???

Employee or sub-contractor???

If you are an EMPLOYEE of the day job company, I believe htey have to right to have this policy, and I believe you are in violation of their policy.

HOWEVER, if, instead, you are a SUB-CONTRACTOR (paid on a 1099 rather than a W-2), then they absolutely CANNOT tell you this. If the employer exercises any type of control over your activities you are, under the tax laws, an EMPLOYEE, not a sub-contractor. Therefore, if the day job guy is paying you on a 1099, you are a sub-contractor, and he cannot tell you what else you may or may not do.

Good luck.

side work

if you are doing side work in this economy to try to help your finances it is a double edged sword, you could turn that work over to your employer to help his work load and preserve your job, or you can do it yourself at a cheaper rate and under cut your own job at work as you are not paying all the overhead, benifits and burdens that are required for them to pay your a_ _ in the first place!

If you have your own business and License are you listed as the Qualifier on both your and your Boss's License? In NC it's against Statute to be listed on more than one License.
