During a recent jury duty, we were told most courts prohibit statistical evidence since its too complex.

Jurors plucked from the population aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, most don't want to be there. Much less are they known for peer review of statistics to discern manipulation from fact.

I never failed a class in my life until undergraduate statistics. It required programming an HP-48 Calculator with the formulas, and begging my instructor to let me use it during the final.

He agreed as long as my formula source code was surrendered 2 weeks before testing. Apparently time enough to design the test questions to crash that calculator.
