Im having a bad day, my Blackberry 7100g just took a dump on me, I took my sim card out and put it in my old Motorola flip phone, but I have to make a quick decision on what to replace it with, I need a phone with a good calander thats easy to add appointments on the fly, I am looking at the Samsung Blackjack, any one have any input what to get?

Not sure of your provider. I thought about the Black Berry Curve. I never purchased it. I'm paying to much to Verizon as it is. That phone just looked a little better built.

im using AT&T (cingular)

Can't offer much about smart phones. I buy dumb phones, purposely. I just need one with a dial pad. I think it's a shame that nobody makes a rotary dial cell phone. Maybe like a Stromberg-Carlson or Westinghouse cell phone.

Simplify your life. Get a pocket calendar at an office supply store. It'll never "take a dump" on you.

no thanks, that dont work for me, I like to have my phone send me alerts a half hour before my appointments, I tend to get busy and lose track of time and need a reminder call....

My boss just got the Blackberry Curve and really likes it. I have the HTC Touch and feel the same. It is compact and user-friendly with more functions than I will ever use. I have the internet/data package, but I believe you can get one without, depending on the provider. I even keep Excell and Office files on there for generator scheduling and customer info.

I couldn't agree more.

There are so many interesting things to pay attention to, other than clock watching. . .especially when these little wonders do such a darn good job of reminding.

I'm in the Windows Mobile camp, myself, and loving the facility of mass storage, WiFi and Bluetooth.

A quick scan of AT&T's Blackberry offerings looks like you're going to pay only about a hundred bucks unless you add things like WiFi and Bluetooth.

How was the keyboard, screen size, fit-in-the-pocket? Maybe you want more bells & whistles? Maybe not.

My 7100g is very compact for the size of screen and the keyboard is an unusual set up keys are large because they serve two letters each, it took a little to get used to, but worked good for me, and I loved the scroll wheel. It actually was capable of alot more than I used it for, and so will whatever I replace it with, Im willing to spend more money for a phone that has a large screen and is easy to navigate and make changes to my appointments, and most of the newer ones have cameras built in which I think could be handy...

I use the Pantech that Verizon sells. It's okay, I can sync it with Outlook so I can edit my appointments, etc. I have it set up to chime reminders 15 minutes ahead of appointment time.

It does have Blue Tooth capability which I have found useless. Too much noise around makes the earset cut in and out enough to irritate me.

The only things I would consider is if the OS of the phone supports the APPs you wish to run.

today I use the phone/pda to program devices like door locks, lighting.

Then there is text, Photo and email .

what do you have?

one palm treo because the app to program the door locks will only work with palm.
Were getting a unit that uses windows CE because another app needs a ceertain Java applet only written in windows.....

I don't know if this will help.
