Solenoids in Cl. I, Div. 2 locations

I believe that std NEMA 1 coils for solenoid valves are OK for Div. 2 locations but some people argue that an explosion proof coil is required. Who's right?

See NEC Section 501.105 (B) (3). Note: NEMA 1 may not be appropriate for an outdoor application. (The most common Division 2 locations)

You're right; we actually do use NEMA 4 housings on the coils w/conduit connections going into the N4 panel. I was just comparing XPRF vs non-XPRF when I said NEMA 1.
