Solid copper RG6 vs. 60%AL..

For RF use, the copper-clad center conductor and aluminum braid/foil shield is more than adequate. There is practically zero benefit to a solid-copper conductor (and/or copper shielding), due to skin effect at RF frequencies.

On the other hand, for audio and video signals, I'll take an all-copper RG-59 over any RG-6 every time. It's more flexible, solderable (although most use compressions or crimps), and easier to fit terminations onto. Plus, the impedance is more suited to A/V use.

The real difference in cable types, other than impedance, is the signal loss over distance, usually stated as X db/1000ft @ a given frequency. In either case, careful and proper termination is more important to signal transfer quality.

Just to add to what Larry said, a solid copper center conductor is preferred whenever the coax carries power any distance such as for sat LNBs and multi-switches, preamps, line powered amps, etc. This is obviously because it provides a lower voltage drop than steel.
