Spa bonding grid

I am installing a spa and I need to install the bonding grid. I know I have to run a solid 8 wire around the perimeter of the spa 18 to 24 inches out and 4 to 6 inches down. My question is does the 8 wire have to clamp to the (mesh grid rebar) in 4 points or does it need just one connection to the mesh.
Or is it just a circle around the pool ending at the motor.

The way I read 680.26(B)(2) is that you can use one of 2 means. If there is structural steel then you just bond it and make sure the steel is tied together. Or you can encircle the pool with a #8. Now if the mess does not qualify as the structural steel I would use a #8 and tie it the grid somewhere just at one point.
