We had a couple build a "green" house just outside of the city limits, so it's in the county. They wanted to heat the house with solar, (this was actually on a show that one of the guys from This Old House does) the county made them put in an $8000 heating system because, and I quote, "the County of Ventura does not consider the sun to be a reliable source of energy". They actually have a plaque on the house with that quote. They said in three years that they have only turned on the heating system once and that was to test it.

Mayve the city should rethink their position in about 4? billion years.

That's utterly absurd.

QO is the Cadillac it has both thermal and magnetic trip. You get what you pay for but I am no fan of the pushmatic. Must be the salt air around here.

Is there something different about the Square D mechanisms? I looked up Cutler-Hammer CH and they are both thermal and magnetic. I am under the impression that all modern loadcenter breakers have both thermal and magnetic elements. Have I missed something.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a HUGE QO fan.

Thanks,

Mark

the NM going to the panel is likely under six feet in an unfinished basement. Needs to be in conduit.

Can you point to that in the NEC?

That is just a local thing, not an NEC rule.

Sorry.... we don't have county AHJ much here. It's 99% cities.

Just pickin' on ya.

Out here most of our county jurisdictions are larger than our cities. There are some areas in this county where the inspectors may have to drive 2 hours just to get to the inspection and then another 2 to get back. Cell sites on mountain tops that take you an hour to get to and require four wheel drive.
