not exactly your answer, but when i install a receptacle i have opted for spec grade. the ease of installation along with a higher quality product.

I just start a strip at 1 1/4" and leave it not fully stripped. After it is wrapped and the binding screw is tightened, I tape the run and end insulations together. This helps keep the end insulation from sliding off the rest of the way and creating a potential hazard.The usual method is to leave a bit of insulation on the tip of the wire. This helps hold those unruly strands together. [The usual method is to strip ~3/4" and then, using the strippers, cut the insulation about 1/2" further on and carefully move that second piece to the end of the wire.]
