I wore Redwings for years and could wear them for hours and I even used them when I went deer hunting with no problems. I used to wear out the leather before I wore out the soles. I've known guys that have had their Redwings resoled two or three times. Some where along the line I broke a toe and didn't realize it so I have this bump on my big toe now and if I try to wear those steel toes for more than a few minutes my foot is killing me.

I'm only required to wear leather boots now, they don't have to have steel toes, so I tend to go with a cheaper hiking boot, but if I put it on and it doesn't feel good right off, then I don't even bother.

I don't have a big foot at all, but I went from a 9 to a 9 1/2 or a wide in some shoes, a few years back.

I am not sure my feet grew quite as much as a jump for 11 to 13EE might indicate. I bought some walking shoes on the Internet that were 12EW (basically EEE) and they fit nicely too.

Farm and Fleet had a large selection of work shoes and boots, including a lot of large and wide sizes. The largest one I saw was a size 16.
