A while back I named all the things in my living room that I had on one circuit that didn't blow the 15 amp breaker.

TV, DVD, VHS, cable box, stereo, lamp, fan, XBOX, computer, modem, monitor, printer, two sound mixing boards,
one musical keyboard, bass amp and cell phone charger...almost 75% of which are on all the time.

I give you a blurry but unmistakable:

In fact, my neighbor recently shorted out a switch that was loose against the edge of the metal box and it tripped the main breaker downstairs instead of blowing her fuse.

First of all I can't believe I-wire has any violations. (Could he be normal?)
I have a junction box under the house like I-wires.
No panel cover on Main panel
No cover on outside GFCI
Drop cords to barn but they are on a sw at the house so no power when I'm not there
Question: Why do we all do these things? My guess is that we think since we are electricians we know how everything works and know what is really dangerous and somehow we pass. Semper Fi Buddy

My wife recently ask me who I thought was the most expensive electrical contractor in the area. I proceeded to ask why she wanted to know.
She replied that she knew that I would not approve of some handy man fixing all of the items around the home.

Oh, Bob, you have so broken my hero worship of you. :D

Seriously, we had a thread on this topic a while back, a lot of good points were raised in that thread. I'll add the link:

Here it is..

I have a 6' pinnensula in my kitchen with no receptacle on it AND have no intention on fixing it. There, I've admitted my wrong-doing, now I feel better.

I mounted the photocell for my outside low voltage lights on my meter socket, and I used my panel as a wireway for those wires. OMG, the horror!
