Section 520 what is everybodys thoughts. Are GFCI's required in dressing rooms above counters?I do not think they are.

What specific section would require GFCI protection for the receptacles that you've mentioned?

And welcome to the forum. :)

The OP (i assume) is looking at 210.8 (B)(5) This is not mentioned under Article 520 that I can see. A Sink as mentioned under "wet bar sink" A sink as in "submerged" basically yes if water is involved then go with the section I mentioned. A dressing room above a counter then don't worry about it....no gfci required as others mentioned.

Presuming by "above counters" you mean the dressing table counters, you are correct: no GFCI is required. But those receptacles must be switched, and the switch must also control a pilot light outside the dressing room door. That allows the night security patrol to discover that an actor may have left a curling iron plugged in (and still heating) at their dressing table, without having to open the dressing room door to look.

Are you sure. Does the code say the sink needs to be connected to plumbing ?

OK......Depends on which code cycle you're on.

'05 says no. '08 says yes.

I was looking in the '08, and "Sinks" is on the next page after a bunch of exceptions. But sinks are not mentioned in the OP, so my original answer of No is valid, unless the OP says there's sinks involved and he's on the '08.

I forgot to include a code reference. This comes from 520.73. Do you already have this feature built into your design?

I do not believe they are required.Electrical eng. seems to think they are required.I am waiting for his response.

Is it going to be a problem to put in GFI's ? It has been said that "GFI's don't nuisance trip". They could only act as an added layer of protection.
