Torque screw drivers

I used to have to torque a large bearing (slewing ring really) 400 ft pounds and at least 50 bolts I bet closer to 75. The wrench was almost 4' long but the work had to be done from a bucket truck.

I doubt if any accuracy was needed there and couldn't be from a moving bucket truck.

It's like the crown of a press where huge tierods are heated with rosebud welders torch which is like a flame thrower till they are cherry red. Nuts are tightened with sluging wrenches and sledge hammers and allowed to cool making them really tight.

Hey I'm not heading up a team of mules, just tightening a lug or two.

Size doesn't matter! It's just the proper way if you need to be accurate.

I think you would be surprised, if the person understands that they can't shock load the wrench you will be able to get consistent results. You just burn up a lot more energy flexing the boom back each time.

Press work I didn't care for, all bull work but I had to do it! Working in a rack lifted by a Hi-Lo, we always tilted/jammed it into the press to steady it. Nobody liked that moving feeling!
