van mpg

I'm looking at buying a van as a work vehicle. Up until now I have only ever had pickups with toppers. What are some of the real mpg that some of you are getting with work vans on a daily basis with your regular load of supplies, tools,and ladder rack. Also I have seen some of the mini cargo vans (like a chevy astro) and was wondering if any one had any likes or dislikes on those. I work in a rural area where 35 miles one way to a job or more is pretty normal so fuel efficiency is really something I would like to save on. Thanks in advance
 
My heavily loaded 2006 5.8 Gas one ton GMC would get about 11 MPG mixed driving.

My equally loaded 2006 GMC Durmax Diesel gets about 14 mixed and I have manged 18.5 on long highway drives.

Sprinter 2500 SHC

That Sprinter can get great mileage. I will avg about 20.5. around town. Long Highway trips close to 21.5. However both ladders on board and look for 17.75-18.50. Total weight 7300 lbs.

Me too 2007 2500 sprinter w/ deisel motor I average 19 if I dont step on it all the time. Your not gonna fly off the blocks with it but at almost 10 1/2 feet tall you really dont want to. Oh and it takes 14 quarts of oil so oil change average 140-170 bucks. This acually reminds me of another question I had. The manual says change the oil every 5000 miles, the dealer tells me cause it is New Jersey I need to change it every 3000 miles, and recently A manager at meineke told me he sevices a fleet of spinters for a certain satelite company and they change their oil every 10000 miles. What is the correct milage?

I think that will probably make the most sense. Considering thats what the manual says. And maybe even 4500 just to be safe. The dealer charged me 250 bucks. Needless to say I havent returned to them.

The small Ford van will have a gas engine not the diesel that gets 30 plus MPG....GO FIGURE Oh I was told California and New York laws PooPoo'd this

I always go by the manual. I change it every 7500 miles (per the manual) in my vehicle and I use synthetic oil.
